AUBURN, Ala. – After calling the action Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn announcer Rod Bramblett will witness less athletic but equally spirited competition on Sunday at the bowling alley.

Bramblett will host a celebrity bowling tournament from 1-5 p.m. at AMF Auburn Lanes, benefiting a non-profit that serves foster children and girls who have been sexually abused.

Bramblett serves on the board of Highest Ground, an organization founded by a family friend, Sharie Jones.

"I felt strongly that her vision of building a facility which will provide faith-based counseling to teenage girls who have been sexually abused as well as a place which will provide recreational opportunities for foster families and organizations that serve foster children would fill a void that exists in this area," Bramblett said.

The bowling tournament features names well known to Auburn fans, such as former Tigers Corey Grant, Will Herring David Rocker, Ben Leard, Terry Henley and James Joseph, along with baseball's Butch Thompson, Tim Hudson, Scott Sullivan and Keegan Thompson.

"Sharie has done the vast majority of the work in putting it together," Bramblett said. "I simply added my name.  It's been quite humbling to see how many folks have committed to participating in this event and contributing to this cause.  Words can't describe how greatly appreciative we are for everyone's participation."

As the voice of the Auburn Tigers, Bramblett has painted the picture for fans of a national championship and SEC championship seasons in football and basketball. He's not sure what expect Sunday when legends of the Plains hit the lanes.

"All I can tell you is Terry Henley has already guaranteed he would bowl a 300," Bramblett said. "Kristi Malzahn and I have agreed to put up those bumpers used to keep the bowling balls from going in the alleys.  So I think we'll see a vast spectrum of athletic expertise Sunday.

"But seriously, so many are taking time out of their busy schedules to be a part of this event, we just want them to have fun for a good cause."
