AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn volleyball team is set for a road contest at Georgia Thursday, Nov. 15. The Tigers and the Bulldogs will go head-to-head at 6 p.m. CT in Stegeman Coliseum and the match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
"We're in the final stretch and are looking forward to tomorrow's test in Athens," head coach Rick Nold said. "We match up really well with Georgia so Thursday's match has all the makings of another great one."
QUICK HITS
- Auburn is 10-15 overall with a 3-12 mark in the Southeastern Conference.
- Sophomore Anna Stevenson is among the conference's best, ranking third in overall block average (1.24), while her 1.31 mark vs. SEC-only opponents is tied for second.
- Freshman Tatum Shipes has really stepped up in the last few matches on the outside for the Tigers. She has totaled double-digit kills in seven of the team's last eight matches and her 2.92 kills/set average vs. SEC opponents leads the team.
- Senior Brenna McIlroy continues to lead the Tigers offensively, averaging 2.88 kills/set on the season.
- McIlroy also continues to excel from the service line, averaging .44 aces/set to rank fourth in the SEC. She picked up a career high in the team's last meeting vs. Missouri (10/19), having six aces in Columbia.
- Freshman Mica Allison as earned the starting nod in all matches at setter for the Tigers the year. The White Heath, Ill., native is fourth in the Southeastern Conference with a 9.88 assists/set average.
- Auburn's 2018 schedule boasts 10 2017 NCAA Tournament participants.
UP NEXT
Auburn caps the regular season with a pair of matches next week. The Tigers host Mississippi State Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Auburn Arena. The Senior Day match is slated for 7 p.m. CT. The squad then takes to the road in the regular season finale, traveling to No. 11 Kentucky Saturday, Nov. 24, for a 12 p.m. CT contest.
SCOUTING GEORGIA
- The Georgia Bulldogs are 13-12 on the season with a 4-10 mark in the Southeastern Conference. The squad is under the direction of second-year head coach Tom Black.
- Junior setter Meghan Donovan is second in the SEC with an 11.01 assists/set average. Her 10.60 mark vs. conference-only opponents is also second.
- Sophomore libero Kendall Glover is among the league's best defensively, averaging 4.09 digs/set.
- Sophomore Rachel Ritchie has a team-best 3.48 kills/set mark, ranking ninth in the conference.
