AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Shaina White of the Auburn volleyball team was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced.
White holds a 3.93 grade-point average in accounting through the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. The selection is the first for the Tiger and is the ninth time a member of the volleyball program has been selected to the first team. White now advances to the Academic All-America ballot. To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and be in their second year at their school.
The middle blocker from Mission Viejo, Calif., has been the team's most efficient hitter for the second-straight season, holding a .336 hitting clip in 2018. That mark ranks eighth among the Southeastern Conference. In addition, she is one of the team's top blockers this year with a .72 blocks/set average.
White came to the Plains as a sophomore transfer for the 2017 season and was an immediate impact to the program. She currently holds the single-season record (rally-scoring only) in hitting percentage, setting that mark last year with a .367 clip.
Auburn (11-15, 4-12) caps the regular season with a pair of matches next week. The Tigers host Mississippi State Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Auburn Arena. The Senior Day match is slated for 7 p.m. CT. The squad then takes to the road in the regular season finale, traveling to No. 11 Kentucky Saturday, Nov. 24, for a 12 p.m. CT contest.
