Volunteering gives you an opportunity to change people's lives, including your own. It gives you the satisfaction of playing a role in someone else's life, helping people who may not be able to help themselves. Volunteering is a way of giving back to your community while developing important social skills, and gaining valuable experience all at the same time.
We sometimes take for granted the community that we live in. Volunteering is ultimately about helping others and having an impact on people's well-being. As a volunteer, you certainly return to society some of the benefits that has been given to you. Volunteering at the food bank of East Alabama has helped me grow as an individual by opening my eyes to the struggles some families go through on a daily bases. Being able to be involved with making their lives slightly better means the world to me because as long as I'm doing something to stay involved with the community then someone else is benefiting from it. It may be true that no one person can solve all the world's problems, but what you can do is make that little corner of the world where you live just that little bit better.
