Auburn in the NFL: Week 9 recap

Auburn in the NFL: Week 9 recapAuburn in the NFL: Week 9 recap

Former Auburn kicker Cody Parkey was perfect Sunday and is now 13 of 16 on FG attempts this season.

AUBURN, Ala. – Here's a look at how the 25 former Auburn players on active NFL rosters fared this past weekend in week nine of the NFL season.

BEST OF WEEK 9

Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton was impressive yet again Sunday as he led the Panthers to their third straight victory, a 42-28 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Heisman Trophy winner went 19 of 25 through the air for 247 yards and two touchdowns and also added 33 yards rushing. Now in his eighth year in the NFL, Newton has accounted for 23 touchdowns on the season. He'll be back at it Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cody Parkey, K, Chicago Bears
Parkey was perfect in a 41-9 win over the Buffalo Bills this week as he made both of his field-goal attempts from 45 and 23 yards out and also converted all five of his PAT attempts. He proved to be a weapon on kickoffs, too, sending all eight back for touchbacks. The fifth-year kicker, who signed with the Bears in March, is now 13 on field goals this season and has yet to miss an extra point.

Greg Robinson, OL, Cleveland Browns
Robinson drew his first start of the season Sunday and earned praise from quarterback Baker Mayfield after the game. The former No. 2 overall pick, who played every offensive snap, didn't surrender a hit to the quarterback and only allowed a couple of hurries on 50 plays in pass protection. As a result, his pass block grade on PFF is now 80.5. Robinson signed with the Browns in the offseason.

OTHER TIGERS IN THE NFL

Montravius Adams, DT, Green Bay Packers
Adams saw limited action on defense and special teams in a 31-17 loss to the New England Patriots. The former All-SEC defensive lineman was drafted in the third round of the 2017 draft by the Packers.

Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Carolina Panthers
Artis-Payne was active but didn't see the field in Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Peyton Barber, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Barber rushed 11 times for 31 yards and added two receptions for nine yards in a 42-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Barber has started every game at running back this season and currently leads the team in rushing attempts (104) and rushing yards (376). The former 1,000-yard rusher at Auburn signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2016.

Dee Ford, LB, Kansas City Chiefs
Coming off a week in which Ford was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week, the former first-round pick had a quiet day with one tackle in a 37-21 win over the Cleveland Browns. Still, Ford has eight sacks on the season and his pass rush grade on PFF (89.9) leads all NFL edge rushers.

Rudy Ford, DB, Arizona Cardinals
