AUBURN, Ala. – Coming off an individual win in the Battle at the Beach, Auburn sophomore Kaleigh Telfer was added to the ANNIKA Award Watch List on Friday.
The award, named after golfing legend Annika Sorenstam, honors the Most Outstanding Female Collegiate Golfer of the year as voted on by peers, coaches and golf media.
Telfer is currently No. 18 on the final fall ANNIKA rankings for 2018-19 after shooting three straight rounds under par to claim her Battle at the Beach title in Mexico last weekend. She has now shot par or better in seven of her 10 rounds this season and is averaging 71.20 per round. She has two top-five finishes and has finished top 15 in all four tournaments this fall.
Telfer, who has been playing in the top spot for Auburn the past three tournaments, recently moved up to No. 17 on Golfstat's player rankings. She is also No. 19 overall on the latest Golfweek/Sagarin individual ranking.
As a team, Auburn jumped to No. 13 this week on Golfstat's team rankings.
The fall season is over, which means Telfer and the Tigers won't be back on the course until February when they take part in the Lake Oconee Collegiate Championship (Individual) and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
