Auburn women wrap up long road trip at Elon Saturday

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Auburn women's basketball wraps up a six-day, three-game road trip Saturday afternoon when the Tigers face the Elon Phoenix in Elon, N.C., at 1 p.m. CT.
 
Auburn (10-1) aims to head to the Christmas break on an eight-game winning streak and having won four games in seven days. The Tigers are coming off a thrilling 86-81 overtime victory over North Carolina on Thursday night in Myrtle Beach, S.C., to wrap up the Carolinas Challenge.
 
Senior Janiah McKay has scored 20-plus points in four straight games, sharing the team lead with 21 points in the win over North Carolina. Sophomore Unique Thompson also came up big in the UNC win, matching McKay with 21 points and pulling down a game-high 18 rebounds.
 
The Tigers' defense has been strong of late, forcing 20-plus turnovers and scoring 30 or more points off turnovers in each of the last three games. Auburn had 38 points off 27 North Carolina turnovers Thursday night while racking up a season-high 20 steals.
 
Elon (5-5) is coming off a win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday. Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the schools in women's basketball.
