Outgoing freshman Sydney Wrighte came to the Plains from South Riding, Va., where she trained and competed at Hill Gymnastics. Through her time there, she had accomplished many things such as being a 2018 JO National qualifier, four-time Level 10 Region 7 regional qualifier, Virginia High School League Female Athlete of the Year to name a few. Wrighte is enthusiastic and eager about the rest of her time academically and athletically here at Auburn.

Q: What made you want to come to Auburn?
A: When I visited I really enjoyed the campus because it was beautiful. Also, I could just really see myself fitting in with the team and I really liked the coaches. Plus, I really liked their philosophy.

Q: What's your favorite aspect about being a gymnast?
A: I would say the challenge of it. When you walk into the gym every day, you don't know what to expect and what the outcome is going to be.

Q: What is your favorite event to compete and why?
A: Vault, I just really like it.

Q: What do you miss most about being home?
A: I really just miss hanging out with my family because we used to have movie nights all the time, which I really liked. I do it with the girls now though.

Q: What's your major and what made you want to pursue that major?
A: My major is marine biology and I want to pursue it because I really like the ocean and the beach, so I want to work with it.

Q: What's your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: I would say rolling the trees. A few of us freshmen rolled the trees after the first game and it was really fun.

Q: If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
A: I think I would to be able to understand every language so, then I could know what people are saying about me and other people.

Q: What would you say is your biggest accomplishment in gymnastics so far?
A: Last year I made it to nationals for the first time and that was fun. It was in Cincinnati and was just a fun experience.
