AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn freshman Brooke Moore has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week for women's basketball, the league office announced Monday.

Moore, from McDonough, Ga., scored a career-high 23 points in 23 minutes off the bench to lead Auburn in an 83-50 win over Alabama State on Saturday. It marked the highest scoring total by an Auburn player this year. Moore made five 3-pointers in the game to tie fellow freshman Robyn Benton for the season-high by an Auburn player this season. She also beat the buzzer just before halftime with a shot from half-court to give the Tigers a 37-20 lead.

Moore missed the first five games of the season with injury but has averaged 9.6 points per game in seven appearances since. She has made nine 3-pointers in her last two games and has 17 for the season.

This is Auburn's second straight week with a conference honor. Last week, senior Janiah McKay was the SEC Player of the Week. Moore is the eighth different Auburn player to earn Freshman of the Week honors and the first since Unique Thompson earned the award twice last season.

Auburn (12-1) carries a nine-game winning streak into Southeastern Conference play, which begins Thursday as the Tigers host No. 10 Tennessee. Game time is 6 p.m. CT at Auburn Arena, and tickets are available at AUBTix.com.
