The Shoal Creek Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, played host to the 2018 U.S. Women's Open.

AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 11 Auburn women's golf team will kick off the 2019 spring season by hosting the Shootout at Shoal Creek, a one-day event in Birmingham on Sunday, Feb. 10, that will also feature golfers from Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

"We are excited to host the Shootout at Shoal Creek," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "With the rainy fall we had, some competition days got cancelled. So we are making one of them up at Shoal Creek. Players from Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama will get to test their games for the first time in the spring at a truly great championship venue."

The Tigers were rained out for the final round in each of their first two fall tournaments, the Mason Rudolph Championship and the Magnolia Invitational, and this event gives them the chance to make up those days that were lost against teams who also missed play due to rain.

Auburn plans to bring its full roster with all nine players expected to compete. Mississippi State and Ole Miss are also expected to fill out a full lineup. And Alabama is planning to send three or four golfers to play as individuals.

The event will consist of 18 holes at the Shoal Creek Club, which played host to the 2018 U.S. Women's Open. The course itself was designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.

Following the Shootout at Shoal Creek, Auburn will continue its spring season the next weekend with the Lake Oconee Collegiate Championship (Feb. 16-17) and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate (Feb. 17-19). Later in the spring, the Tigers are hosting the Evans Derby Experience (March 23-25) for the second straight year.

This year's Evans Derby field features 14 teams, including six ranked in the top 10.
