AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men's tennis opens the 2019 season this weekend with four home matches.
Friday, the Tigers will host Jackson State in matches at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Saturday, Auburn will face Samford in matches at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. All action this weekend will be indoors at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
"We had to come back to campus ready, playing four matches during the first weekend of the semester, but our guys worked hard over the break and are ready to go," Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said.
"We're still really young – three of the six guys who will be playing are only in their third semester, having come here last January. They're young, but they're ready. We'll have one senior in Brandon Laubser, we'll have Tim Dollman, who's a transfer from UAB, as a junior, and then we have five sophomores and another junior.
"It's exciting to be starting the spring season. The guys have put in so much work in the fall; our big thing was culture and conditioning, the stuff we can control. They're ready to compete and let it loose.
"These early matches will give a lot of guys opportunities to play and mixing and matching our lineup, especially doubles combinations. Singles play will allow guys to compete and earn their position. It's fun to be getting started."
All home matches are at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
