AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn will host three non-conference men's tennis matches this weekend at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Friday, the Tigers (7-2) entertain Georgia Tech (3-0) at 11 a.m. and host Alabama State (1-3) in a 5 p.m. contest. On Sunday, Auburn plays Minnesota (3-1) in a noon match.
"This will be our last doubleheader-type weekend for a while, the last chunk of getting out there and fighting through three matches in a weekend, and I'm hoping we can get outside some," Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said. "Georgia Tech has a diverse lineup, with some new guys we haven't seen. They're historically very good in doubles, and no different than any match we play, doubles will be a key to our success.
"Minnesota is a new team for us – we don't face them traditionally or at any fall tournaments. It will be a good test for our guys to go out and play their own game, not knowing their opponents previously.
"We have some really good individual doubles players, and it's just a matter of finding that combination of three teams that work well together, that complement each other, and can play aggressive doubles.
"It's a matter of seizing opportunities when we have the lead, taking time to relax and determine what you want to do before you play each point, and then going out and executing. Playing when you're ahead vs. playing from behind is where we are at a crossroads. The fight and belief and trust in what you do on the tennis court shouldn't change whether you're ahead or behind. That's our challenge going forward."
Fans will receive a free Auburn Tennis t-shirt at Friday's matches while supplies last. All Auburn home tennis action is at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
