AUBURN, Ala. – Allison Maillard and Conner Pruitt each finished sixth on day one of the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens, Georgia, on Friday.

Maillard scored a 304.94 in finals to earn her ranking on the 3-meter. She had advanced to the finals after qualifying fifth with a 311.10.

"Alison was really solid in prelims, again competing a front three-and-a-half pike and a reverse two-and-a-half pike and getting meet experience on those," Auburn diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "In finals the bright spot was when she popped the reverse two-and-a-half pike for over 60 points, and that's really encouraging."

Maillard then finished fifth in the shootout, an exhibition in which the top six divers from finals compete dive-for-dive with one another, with the lowest score being eliminated each round.

Ruthie Jerger finished 29th out of 43 in prelims with a 216.15, a season-best.

Pruitt scored a 311.30 to earn his spot in the 1-meter competition. He had advanced to finals with a 310.00, which also placed him sixth.

Logan Andrews also contested two lists on Friday, collecting a ninth-place finish with a 292.35. He had qualified 10th with a 284.75.

Justin Checchin finished 20th out of 30 with a 265.85.

"All three guys were pretty consistent and did what I asked of them in a meeting last night, which was to be competitive and focus on one dive at a time, and I thought overall we did that," Shaffer said. "We did some good things from the board to the water and we were just a little bit sloppy on finishing our dives, and that's where we can make some points up."

Brooke Schultz of Arkansas won the women's 3-meter with a 365.05.

Juan Hernandez of LSU won the men's 1-meter with a 382.90.

Day two of the Georgia Diving Invitational will feature the women's 1-meter and the men's 3-meter. Competition begins at 10 am CT from Gabrielson Natatorium. Live stats will be available on divemeets.com.

Auburn swimming will also be in action on Saturday, playing host to Georgia Tech at 10 am at the Martin Aquatics Center.

Admission to Saturday's home meet is free.
