AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team begins a six-match home stand Saturday as the Tigers play host to Houston and UAB in a pair of matches at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Auburn's match with Houston is set for a 10 a.m. start, and the Tigers will square off with UAB beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is free for all home Auburn tennis matches. Fans attending Saturday's match will receive a free Auburn Tennis t-shirt while supplies last.
"We've got to be ready for anyone," Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. "Everyone is going to come out and want to beat us, so we've got to play to our potential. (This weekend) is going to give us opportunities to play lots of different people in the lineup; our 7-8-9 players, we're going to play them a lot this weekend and rest some people. It gives us a good variety to be able to play our entire team again and give everybody some good playing time. But again, we've got to continue on the road we're on as far as meeting our potential. We're working on the process of it and not living and dying by each match."
The Tigers (5-1) split a pair of matches last weekend in the ITA Kickoff in Atlanta, falling to No. 25 Kentucky 4-0 before bouncing back with a 4-3 win over No. 13 Georgia Tech on the Yellow Jackets' home courts. Freshmen Sophia Graver and Yu Chen, junior Taylor Russo and senior Alannah Griffin picked up singles wins against Georgia Tech to give the Tigers a victory in their first road match of the season.
Live video streaming (if the match is played outdoors) and live scoring will be available at AuburnTigers.com. Fans can also follow @AuburnWTennis on Twitter for updates throughout the day.
