GULF SHORES — Auburn concluded the Sand Dollar Classic the same way it started it as the Tigers knocked off Florida A&M 10-2 in six innings.
Auburn bounced back from two losses Saturday by scattering its 10 runs and 11 hits throughout every inning but the third. The Tigers ran their weekend home run total to 11 after Casey McCrackin, Tannon Snow and Justus Perry all went deep during the game. It was McCrackin's fourth home run during the weekend, which gives the senior the team high.
The run outburst started in the top of the first when Kendall Veach, with the bases loaded, singled home McCrackin before Perry hit a sacrifice fly to plate Tan. Snow. The Tiger lead was extended the next inning when Morgan Podany scored on a wild pitch followed by a sacrifice fly by Tan. Snow to score her sister, Taylon Snow.
Florida A&M's only dent on the scoreboard came during the third inning when Tyra Bowers singled down the third-base line to score Shakay Nixon and Kaylin Rhone. McCrackin and Tan. Snow hit back-to-back home runs to respond the following inning.
The 9-2 score stood until Tay. Snow singled home Camryn Greenwood and Aspyn Godwin with two outs in the top of the fifth. Perry extended the lead with her solo home run during the top of the sixth.
Making her second appearance as a Tiger, Lexie Handley entered the game in the bottom of the sixth and surrendered only one hit and struck out two to end the game. Handley entered the game for Chardonnay Harris, who went a career-long 5.0 innings and matched her career high with six strikeouts and earned her first win on the young season.
Auburn will return to action on Thursday when the Tigers host UAB at Jane B. Moore Field at 6 p.m. to open the Plainsman Invitational. The game will be SEC Network +/WatchESPN app and broadcasted on the Auburn Sports Network.
