AUBURN, Ala. – The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry is renewed for the 49th time in women's basketball Sunday afternoon as Auburn hosts Georgia for a 2 p.m. tip at Auburn Arena.
The Tigers (16-5, 4-4 SEC) look to build on the momentum from a strong second half that led to a 64-51 win at Ole Miss on Thursday night. Auburn got 20 points and 12 rebounds from Unique Thompson, her ninth double-double of the year, to pick up their fourth road win in SEC play.
Auburn continues to be one of the top defensive forces in the SEC, leading the league and ranking sixth nationally with 12.4 steals per game. The Tigers have forced at least 20 opponent turnovers in 17 of 21 games this year, including 11 of the last 12 contests. Daisa Alexander and Janiah McKay are tied for second in the SEC in steals, each averaging 2.4 per game.
Georgia (13-8, 4-4 SEC) snapped a three-game skid Thursday night with an 80-72 win at Arkansas. The Lady Bulldogs have won the last four meetings with Auburn, including a 60-48 win in Athens last season.
