No. 13 Tigers in the hunt after strong second day at Amer Ari Invitational

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The 13th-ranked Auburn men's golf team produced the fourth-best round of the day with a 14-under showing in the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational Friday afternoon.

The Tigers carded 26 birdies and one eagle as a group and sit in sixth at 23-under overall (279-274--553), just 13 shots off the lead.

Auburn has two players in the top 15 as Trace Crowe and Jacob Solomon are in a tied for ninth and 12th, respectively.

Crowe produced a 3-under 69 to vault himself into the upper echelon of the field at 7-under overall. Solomon had the best round by any Tiger as he turned in a bogey-free 5-under 67. The senior is at 6-under for the tournament.

Graysen Huff and Jovan Rebula are tied for 24th at 4-under following their second circuit of the par-72 course. Huff tallied 13 pars, four birdies and one bogey to earn a 3-under 69, while Rebula had an up-and-down 1-under 71.

Brandon Mancheno bounced back for a 3-under 69 and is locked into a tied for 44th overall. The sophomore once again eagled the 513-yard, par-5 fourth hole to highlight his round.

Competing as an individual, Ryan Knop went even par and is positioned in a tie for 31st at 3-under after two rounds.

No. 1 Oklahoma State leads the field at 36-under (540), followed by No. 6 USC (545), No. 12 Texas (546), Oregon and Texas Tech (552), No. 13 Auburn (553), No. 2 Georgia Tech (561), TCU (563), Oregon State (564), San Jose State (565), Pacific (568), Colorado (571), Utah (573), Stanford (574), Hawaii-Hilo (576), UC Davis (579), Osaka Gakuin (Japan) (580) and Hawaii (603).

Tee times for the final round are set for 11:30 a.m. CT. The Tigers are paired with Georgia Tech, Oregon and TCU in foursomes off the fifth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th holes. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.
