Auburn Athletics offers assistance in tornado relief efforts

AUBURN, Ala. - As part of Auburn University's efforts to assist in the tornado relief of Lee County and surrounding areas, the Auburn Athletics Department will be collecting supplies at two locations this weekend on the athletics footprint on campus. 

Donations will be accepted on Friday, March 8 from 4-7 p.m. CT and Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Gate 14 on the west side of Jordan-Hare Stadium and the McWhorter Parking Lot on the intersection of Samford Avenue and Biggio Drive.

Fans attending Auburn sporting events on campus Friday and Saturday are encouraged to bring supplies to those two locations.

The following items will be collected:

  • Bottled water
  • Diapers
  • Baby formula
  • Baby wipes
  • Trash bags
  • Packaged foods
  • Hygiene products
  • Work gloves

For comprehensive ways to donate, volunteer or provide additional community resources, the Auburn University Tornado Relief website at http://auburn.edu/tornadorelief/ provides ways to assist and donate funds. Individuals wishing to make financial contributions to the relief efforts can do so by clicking "DONATE" and visiting the Alabama Governor's Relief Fund or the American Red Cross.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the devastation in Lee County," Director of Athletics Allen Greene said. "Auburn Athletics will collaborate with Auburn University leadership and local authorities to ensure that our relief and recovery efforts have maximum impact on those directly affected."
