AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn collected the doubles point for the second straight match, but No. 44 Kentucky dominated singles to earn a 5-2 men's tennis victory in SEC play Sunday afternoon at the Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington.
The Tigers' top tandem of Brandon Laubser and Tad Maclean picked up an SEC doubles win for the second consecutive Sunday, defeating Cesar Borgois and Enzo Wallart 6-4. On court three, Anders Fry and Diego Chavarria posted a doubles win for the second straight match, defeating Kevin Huempfner and Fabian Penzkofer by a 6-3 score.
Laubser, playing on court four, won his singles match 6-4, 6-3 over Borgois, but the Wildcats took the first set of the remaining matches and posted victories on courts two, six, one and five to clinch the match.
Auburn is now 11-10 (0-4 SEC), while Kentucky goes to 9-7 overall (3-1 SEC).
Thursday, Auburn visits No. 40 Ole Miss (8-7, 0-3 SEC) for an SEC match in Oxford.
