AUBURN, Ala. – Alison Maillard and Conner Pruitt both went three-for-three at the Zone B Diving Championships, adding platform to their NCAA event lists on the final day at the Martin Aquatics Center.
"It was a good meet for us," Auburn diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "I was really proud of Alison's leadership and Conner as a freshman stepping up and, what ended up being a real tough platform contest, coming away with two personal bests. I'm looking forward to going to Austin and contributing to our team's success."
Maillard qualified 10th out of prelims with a 235.90 on her five-dive list. She then posted a nearly identical 235.30 in finals to finish 12th overall and complete her event list at next week's NCAA Championships.
"We didn't focus a lot on platform and put a little more emphasis on springboard," Shaffer said. "Regardless, as she moves on to the NCAA Championships and beyond that, she has to develop her skills to be a little more competitive and finish dives the way I know she can."
A junior, Maillard will be competing all three events for the second consecutive season and on both springboards for the third straight year. Her highest finish came her freshman year when she placed 12th on the 1-meter to earn honorable mention All-America recognition.
Pruitt qualified third out of prelims with a personal-best 383.70. He then bested that score in finals, scoring a 386.25 for a two-list score of 769.95, which placed him fourth.
"To dive against this level of competition can only add to his confidence as we move on to the NCAA Championships," Shaffer said.
Logan Andrews scored a personal-best 302.60 in prelims to qualify 15th, a standing he held in finals when he scored a 279.90 for a two-list score of 582.50.
"Logan came away with a personal best in his first list and just didn't finish sharp in his second list," Shaffer said. "There is a lot of positive to take away from this meet for him as we look to the future. There are some areas that he has to focus on on a daily basis to dive and compete to put himself to make NCAAs next year."
Maillard was one of three female divers in Zone B to advance on all three boards and Pruitt was one of five men to do it.
The 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 20-23 at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the University of Texas campus at Austin. The men's championships are the following week at the same venue.
