AUBURN, Ala. – The 39th-ranked Auburn women's tennis team continues Southeastern Conference play this weekend with its second road trip of the season, traveling to the Magnolia State for a pair of matches Friday and Sunday.

The Tigers (13-6, 0-4) will take on Mississippi State at 3 p.m. CT Friday in Starkville before traveling to Oxford to face Ole Miss at 1 p.m. Sunday.

"Everyone in the SEC is a quality team," Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. "I think we match up well with Mississippi State and Ole Miss. It's an opportunity to get some road wins, which equal more points for our ranking. Both of these teams are in our region, so we see a lot of them in both the fall and the spring, and a lot of their players are very familiar to us."

Auburn is coming off a tough weekend where the Tigers dropped a pair of 4-1 matches to No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 18 Kentucky. Six of the Tigers' last seven matches have come against ranked opponents with four of those against top-20 foes.

"Alannah Griffin had a huge win at No. 4 against the No. 32 player in the country (from Vanderbilt), so it was a huge win for her," Spencer said. "Alannah has been playing some exceptional tennis. It's very good for this team to have a senior step up like that. Vanderbilt's a tough team and we knew that going in.

"Kentucky's a tricky team; every single court we played was neck-and-neck. It was just a few points here and there that could have swung either way, and unfortunately for us, we were on the wrong end of it that day. When you compare the match we played against Kentucky at ITA Kickoff versus this one, this was a much better performance by us."

Mississippi State (10-5, 1-2) and Ole Miss (4-5, 1-2) each played just one match last week – the Rebels topped the Bulldogs 4-1 in Oxford.
