AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team will play at home for the first time in three weeks when the Tigers host No. 18 Tennessee and No. 1 Georgia this weekend at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Auburn will take on the Lady Vols at 2 p.m. CT Friday before facing the Bulldogs at noon CT Sunday. Admission is free to all home Auburn tennis matches.
"It's what the SEC brings, we're going to see the best of the best," assistant coach Jacob Eddins said. "It's going to be a battle. Tennessee has really been improving, and it's going to be an exciting match. Georgia's at the top of the SEC, it's a good test for us to see where we are. It's an exciting opportunity, a great opportunity to get them at home."
Fans have two chances to receive giveaways at this weekend's matches. Auburn Tennis keychains will be available for fans at Friday's match vs. Tennessee, and fans at Sunday's match against Georgia can pick up a pair of Auburn Tennis sunglasses.
Auburn is looking to bounce back after dropping a tough 4-2 match at Alabama last Friday. The Tigers got singles wins from Madeline Meredith and Taylor Russo against the Tide but were unable to overcome an early deficit.
"We felt good about the doubles point going in," Eddins said. "We lost that and that gave Alabama some momentum. Overall, I think we really gave ourselves a good chance to fight back and take that match in singles with four 3-setters. It was a really hard-fought match. I thought we did a really good job competing to the end."
Tennessee (14-5, 4-3) comes into the week off a pair of wins last week over Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Georgia (15-0, 7-0) is unbeaten and the nation's top-ranked team.
