AUBURN, Ala. – The road proved difficult this weekend for Auburn men's tennis, as the Tigers dropped a pair of matches at No. 15 Tennessee Friday (6-1) and at No. 28 Georgia (4-1) Sunday afternoon.
Doubles were strong all weekend for the Tigers. Auburn won the doubles point at Tennessee. Matteo DeVincentis and Filippo Mora posted a 6-4 win over Adam Walton and Scott Jones on court two, and Diego Chavarria and Anders Fry were winners by a 6-2 score on court three over Andrew Rogers and Pat Harper of the Volunteers.
All three doubles matches at Georgia went to tiebreakers, with Brandon Laubser and Tad Maclean upsetting the Bulldogs' No. 47 nationally ranked doubles team of Robert Loeb and Jan Zielinski by a 7-6 (7-3) score. Maclean picked up Auburn's only singles point of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of No. 21 Emil Reinberg on court two.
Auburn is now 12-14 for the spring season. The Tigers finish their home season next weekend hosting No. 18 South Carolina on Friday, April 5, at 3 p.m. and No. 2 Florida on Sunday, April 7, at noon. All Auburn home tennis action is at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
