SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS

The Skyhawks enter the midweek with a 4-6 record after dropping a weekend series at Kennesaw State.

UT Martin faces off with a SEC opponent in midweek action for the second straight week. The Skyhawks lost, 6-12, to No. 10 Ole Miss on Feb. 26.

Senior outfielder Jordan Stoner paces the club in batting average (.350), slugging percentage (.475), RBI (eight), runs (six), hits (14) and total bases (19).

The UT Martin pitching staff tallied the program's first-ever back-to-back shutouts as the Skyhawks put together 1-0 wins on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24 against North Alabama. Collectively, the Skyhawk's have a 4.80 ERA.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP

UT Martin's three full-time coaches in head coach Ryan Jenkins and assistant coaches Matt Heath and Hunter Morris all have ties to Auburn.

Jenkins (2006-08, '10) and Morris (2008-10) were both All-SEC performers for the Tigers, while Morris was named the 2010 SEC Player of the Year after setting the single-season record with 23 home runs.

Both returned to The Plains as a member of the Auburn coaching staff following their careers in professional baseball.

Heath formerly served as Auburn's hitting coach during the 2009 season when the team belted a then-program-record 103 home runs.
