LAS VEGAS – Jacob Solomon shot a 3-under 69 in his final circuit of Southern Highlands Golf Club to lead No. 7 Auburn in the final round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Tuesday afternoon.
The senior was nearly flawless as he amassed 14 pars, two birdies and an eagle in the final round. Solomon holed out on his second shot of the par-4, 506-yard 11th hole. He tied for 14th overall at 2-under (72-73-69--214).
Graysen Huff finished in a tie for 37th at 4-over (74-72-74--220). The junior tallied two birdies on the front nine and one on the back nine in his final tour of the par-72 course.
Jovan Rebula was just one shot behind Huff as he tied for 44th at 5-over (76-72-73--221). The junior was even-keel for the afternoon as he 14 pars and one birdie with two bogeys.
Trace Crowe was the final scorer for the Tigers as he tied for 63rd at 11-over (77-77-73--227). The senior racked up four birdies split evenly between the front nine and back nine en route to his best round this week.
Auburn finished 12th in a loaded field at 17-over (299-293-289--881).
"It was a tough week for the Tigers and we didn't play very well," head coach Nick Clinard said. "The greens were a challenge for us and we didn't adapt quick enough to the conditions. We learned a lot this week though which will help us in our preparation moving forward. We have a great team and we will be very prepared for our next tournament in south Florida."
No. 11 Oklahoma won the event at 14-under (850), followed by No. 8 Texas (851), Stanford (854), No. 18 Texas Tech (856), No. 15 Cal (857), No. 4 Georgia Tech (860), UNLV (863), TCU (863), Illinois (866), No. 6 USC (872), No. 13 Pepperdine (874), No. 7 Auburn (881), UCLA (887), Florida (887) and UCF (895).
The Tigers return to the links March 17-19 for the Valspar Collegiate at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
