ORLANDO, Fla. – Auburn men's golf junior Jovan Rebula has been named to the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup International Team announced at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard at Bay Hill Club and Lodge. The Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 7-9 at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark.
Rebula was one of 10 players chosen to the International squad for the annual event. He will be joined by Julie McCarthy of the Auburn women's golf team, who will also represent the International team.
"I'm thrilled to hear Jovan was selected to the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup today," Auburn head coach Nick Clinard said. "It's a privilege and honor for him to make the team for the second year in a row. He's been very committed and focused this year, so this is a nice award for him. Auburn will be well represented with Jovan and Julie McCarthy from the women's team."
Rebula, who competed in the 2018 Palmer Cup, is the second Clinard-coached Tiger to play back-to-back events, joining former All-American Blayne Barber (2011, 2012). Michael Johnson also participated in the Palmer Cup following his record-breaking 2016 senior season.
The junior is the first player to represent South Africa in the event and is one of five returners from last season's competition.
Rebula has four top-10 finishes in seven tournaments this season. He has carded nine rounds under par, including seven in the 60s.
The George, South Africa native earned an exemption into the 2019 Masters after winning the 123rd British Amateur.
