AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men's tennis team concludes regular season action Saturday at No. 47 Arkansas. The 1 p.m. SEC match will be played at the Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville.
"We're excited to go to Arkansas. We match up really well with them," Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said. "They have almost the same team they had last season that we were able to defeat here at home, so we're looking for the same result.
"We have a little bit of a lineup change. We're going to move Tad (Maclean) up to No. 1 in singles. He started off the season at No. 5, but he's done everything the coaches have asked of him, and he's had success all the way. He had a great win this past weekend against Florida and a really tough opponent. He was able to find the game plan that was successful against his opponent and he was relentless. He just kept going and going and going. He did it, so we're going to give him that opportunity.
"And Matteo (DeVincentis) coming down to the two spot, he's playing the exact same guy he beat last year. With tennis being a sport based off matchups, this can help Matteo, knowing that he beat that opponent last year and Matteo's playing better than he did last year.
"I think we're playing good doubles and the doubles lineup will stay the same."
In this week's Oracle/ITA rankings, Brandon Laubser and Maclean move up to No. 51 in the doubles listing, after debuting in the rankings at No. 62 last week. Arkansas' Oscar Mesquida is ranked No. 65 in singles.
Wednesday, Maclean was one of 12 players named to the SEC Community Service Team for his work as a member of the Auburn Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Auburn is now 12-17 for the spring season; Arkansas is 13-14 overall and 2-9 in SEC action. The SEC tournament is April 17-22 at Florida.
