AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team will begin SEC Tournament play Wednesday afternoon when the Tigers face Mississippi State. The match is set for a 1 p.m. CT start in College Station, Texas.
Auburn (14-14) is the No. 13 seed in the SEC Tournament. The winner of Wednesday's match will face tournament host and No. 5 seed Texas A&M at 2 p.m. CT Thursday.
The Tigers are coming off a split weekend in SEC play where they picked up a Senior Day victory over Missouri on Friday before falling to Arkansas Sunday in the regular-season finale. In Friday's match, the Tigers rallied for four singles wins after dropping the doubles point; Auburn got victories in singles from Jaeda Daniel, Madeline Meredith, Taylor Russo and Yu Chen.
This will be the second meeting this season between Auburn and Mississippi State. The teams met March 15 in Starkville with the Bulldogs claiming a 4-2 win. In that match, MSU claimed the doubles point in a tiebreaker, and Auburn got singles wins from Daniel and Chen before the Bulldogs clinched the victory.
