AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 12 Auburn men's golf team will look to repeat its performance from a season ago when it takes aim at the 2019 Southeastern Conference Championship, April 24-28 in St. Simons Island, Ga.
The Tigers were crowned 2018 SEC champions after defeating Alabama in the final hole of match play.
"We are excited to defend our SEC Championship at Sea Island this week," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We are in a great state of mind and look forward to competing for the championship."
Auburn will take Trace Crowe, Graysen Huff, Brandon Mancheno, Wells Padgett, Jovan Rebula and Jacob Solomon to the par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course this week.
The Tigers have won four SEC titles in program history: 1976, 1981, 2002 and 2018. Auburn is in search of becoming only the third team to repeat as conference champions since the annual event was moved to St. Simons Island in 2001.
Teams will compete in three rounds of stroke play in consecutive days to determine an individual champion as well as the eight teams that will advance to match play. Stroke play begins at 6:30 a.m. CT Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Match play pits the top eight teams in order of finish against each other to determine a conference champion. The quarterfinals and semifinals are set to take place Saturday. The quarterfinals begin at 6:30 a.m. CT and the semifinals, which will be broadcast on SEC Network+, is set for 11:30 a.m. CT.
The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on the SEC Network.
Auburn is one of six ranked teams in this year's SEC Championship, joining No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 11 LSU, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 16 Georgia and No. 22 Alabama.
The Tigers have recorded six top-three finishes this season, including victories at the East Lake Cup and Tiger Invitational.
Crowe, Mancheno, Rebula and Solomon lead Auburn with four top-10 finishes on the season. Mancheno has carded a team-high 14 rounds below par, while Rebula and Solomon have totaled 11 apiece.
