ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The No. 12 Auburn men's golf team is tied for the lead after the opening round of play at the 2019 Southeastern Conference Championship Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers carded an 8-under 272 in their first circuit of the par-70 Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club and are tied with No. 16 Georgia atop the leaderboard.
Auburn has four players inside the top 15 overall, including Graysen Huff, Brandon Mancheno, Jovan Rebula and Trace Crowe.
Huff, who is tied for fourth, turned in a 3-under 67. The junior tied the team-high with five birdies in a round that also featured 11 pars.
Mancheno and Rebula are tied for ninth after carding rounds of 2-under 68 each. The duo combined for nine birdies and 23 pars in their opening 18 holes.
Crowe, who stands in a tie for 15th, was even-keel all day as he racked up a team-high 15 pars to go along with two birdies, both of which came on the back nine.
Jacob Solomon rounded out the lineup after carding a 1-over 71. He is tied for 31st on the individual leaderboard.
Auburn and Georgia lead the field by three strokes at 8-under (272), followed by Ole Miss (275), Kentucky (275), No. 4 Vanderbilt (277), No. 15 South Carolina (279), No. 22 Tennessee (280), Arkansas (281), Texas A&M (281), No. 11 LSU (282), Missouri (289), Mississippi State (290), Florida (291) and No. 25 Alabama (292).
The Tigers are paired with Georgia and Ole Miss for the second round Thursday morning. Tee times begin at 8:10 a.m. CT off the first tee box.
