Schwartz, Men’s 4x100m advance to Saturday Finals at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa.—Freshman Anthony Schwartz and the men's 4x100m relay both posted times fast enough to advance to the finals in their respective events to highlight the Auburn track and field efforts Saturday at the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field Friday.

Schwartz cruised to a 10.44 100m to earn a spot in the men's 100m finals Saturday at 2:45 p.m. CT, while the foursome of Marrel Parker, Shaun Shivers, Jason Reese and Chiason Tenkiang ran a 40.87 in rainy, wet conditions, to qualify for the finals of the men's 4x100m Championship of America, Saturday at 12:52 p.m.

Sophomore Noah Igbinoghene, competing in his second meet of the outdoor season, finished third in the men's championship of America long jump. On his fourth attempt, Igbinoghene posted his longest mark, jumping 7.33m/24-0.75. In six attempts, five resulted in jumps of 7.00m or better.

In the men's long jump featuring 35 competitors, junior Marrel Parker and senior Mark Rubalcaba finished third and fourth, respectively. Parker's top jump was 7.26m/23-10, while Rubalcaba had two jumps of 7.25m/23-9.5 on his fifth and sixth leaps.

Sophomore Tori McKinley, a seventh-place finisher in the women's shot put championship on Thursday, was back in action Friday where she finished sixth in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 49.72m/163-1.

In Athens, Ga., at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial, Myra Mack ran 23.81 in the women's 200m for third place and a new personal best, while Sherwayne Allen won silver in the men's 400m hurdles with a new PR of 52.78. Junior Natosha Jordan had a huge jump in the women's long jump, with a new PR of over a foot of her previous best as she posted a mark of 6.04m/19-9.75. Freshman Tylar Colbert won the women's 400m hurdles in 1:01.38.

Auburn will have a full day at the Penn Relays beginning at 8 a.m. CT with Auburn competing in eight events.
