AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team makes its final SEC road trip of the season this weekend when the Tigers travel to South Carolina and Florida.
Due to impending weather in Columbia on Friday, Auburn's match with No. 3 South Carolina will now be played at 6 p.m. CT Thursday at the Carolina Tennis Center. The match was originally scheduled for Friday. Following their showdown with the Gamecocks, the Tigers will head south to Gainesville for a noon CT Sunday match with the 23rd-ranked Gators.
The 49th-ranked Tigers will be playing their third and fourth straight top-25 opponents after a pair of matches against No. 18 Tennessee and No. 1 Georgia last weekend. Auburn came within just a few points of a win over the Lady Vols before dropping a 4-2 decision, then fought hard but fell 4-0 to the top-ranked Bulldogs. Sophomore Jaeda Daniel remains nationally ranked in singles, coming in at No. 103 in this week's ITA rankings.
South Carolina (14-3, 9-1 SEC) has just one SEC setback this year, dropping a 4-2 decision to top-ranked Georgia on March 17. The Gamecocks have won four straight, all on the road, including a pair of 4-0 wins over LSU and Texas A&M last week.
Florida (9-8, 6-4 SEC) bounced back with a pair of wins last week, defeating LSU 4-3 and Texas A&M 5-2 on the road.
