Conner Pruitt claims a pair of runner-up finishes at Nationals Qualifier

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn swimming and diving rising sophomore Conner Pruitt had a strong start to his summer season, earning a pair of second-place finishes at the USA Diving Senior National Qualifier in Indianapolis on Thursday and Friday.

Pruitt (Opelika/Opelika HS) finished second on the 3-meter on Thursday with a 373.10, besting third place by 38.60 points. He followed that up on Friday with a 321.90 on the 1-meter to finish just 12.35 behind first place and 23.20 points ahead of third.

The 2019 USA Diving Senior National Diving Championships will be held May 19-26 in Indianapolis. The 1-meter prelims, quarterfinals and finals are scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, while the 3-meter will be contested on Thursday, May 23.

The championships serve as a qualifying meet for the Pan Am Games and the World Championships. The FINA World Championships are in Gwangju, South Korea, July 12-28, while the Pan Am Games will be held in Lima, Peru, July 26-Aug. 11.
