FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The third and final round of stroke play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championship was called Monday evening due to darkness at Blessings Golf Club.

Vying for a spot in the match play quarterfinals, the Auburn women's golf team was one of six teams remaining on the course when play was suspended. The Tigers are in eighth and currently the last team in with sophomores Kaleigh Telfer and Mychael O'Berry still left to finish. They are three strokes ahead of Illinois, who is already in the clubhouse and sitting in ninth.

O'Berry has one hole left to play, and Telfer has two. Play will resume Tuesday morning at 6:45 CT, and match play will follow shortly after the third round concludes.

Freshman Brooke Sansom was the first Auburn player to finish the round, and she finished in style with a birdie on the last hole. It was the fourth birdie on the back nine for Sansom, who carded a 75 (+2) to move her up into a tie for 62nd on the player leaderboard.

Sophomore Julie McCarthy also made four birdies on the day and finished with a 78 (+5) while junior Elena Hualde Zúñiga shot an 86 (+13) for the Tigers.

The match play portion of the NCAA Championship, beginning Tuesday, will be shown on Golf Channel. Live scoring can also be found on Golfstat.com
