BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ryan Bliss has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Bliss put up impressive offensive numbers in three games against Alabama and shares the honor with Georgia's Cole Wilcox. It marks Bliss' first weekly honor from the conference.

The LaGrange, Georgia, native finished the weekend 6-for-12 and reached base in eight of 14 plate appearances against the Crimson Tide. Bliss tied for the team lead with six hits and five runs scored and drove in four in the series. He also stole two bases in as many attempts.

Bliss went 2-for-4 in all three games against Alabama while reaching base three times and scoring a pair of runs in both the series opener and finale. The freshman second baseman, who has played and started in all 47 games this season, collected his 10th double of the year in Friday's opener and drove in a season-high four runs on a pair of two-run singles in Sunday's decisive finale.

Bliss and the Tigers take on UAB (22-26, 8-16 C-USA) at Plainsman Park Tuesday before hosting No. 8 Georgia (37-12, 16-8 SEC) this weekend.
