Auburn wraps up home SEC slate vs. Georgia

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn (29-19, 12-12 SEC) finishes off its home conference schedule with a three-game series against No. 7 Georgia (37-13, 16-8 SEC) this weekend. First pitch in the series opener at Plainsman Park is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CT. Game two is set to take place Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.

Prior to Saturday's game, three members of Auburn's senior class in Brett Olson, Blake Schilleci and manager Peyton Mask will be honored during a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

QUICK HITTERS

The Tigers have collected 10+ hits in four straight games and 9+ hits in eight straight. The team is hitting .326 in those last eight contests.

Will Holland has turned in three hits in three straight games. He is 9-for-12 with six runs, two doubles, one home run and five RBI in the last three contests.

Conor Davis and Matt Scheffler have matched a season high with 10-game hitting streaks. Davis it hitting .395 (17-for-43) and Scheffler is hitting .351 (13-for-37) during their respective streaks.

Ryan Bliss was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after going 6-for-12 with five runs and four RBI vs. Alabama. Bliss is hitting .316 and is tied for the team lead with 16 RBI in the last 20 contests.

This weekend will mark the first time Tanner Burns and Jack Owen have been in the starting rotation together since SEC opening weekend vs. Tennessee (Mar. 15-17).

Auburn's next win would mark its 30th this season. The Tigers haven't won 30+ games in three straight seasons since 2003-05.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

Georgia enters the weekend with a 37-13 overall record and 16-8 mark in SEC play. The Bulldogs have won six of their eight conference series this season.

Offensively, Georgia is hitting .265 and ranks 10th in the SEC in the category. The Bulldogs are hitting .239 in SEC games and also rank 10th in the category.

Senior infielder LJ Talley leads the way with a .341 average, while five Bulldogs have 30 or more RBI and four have seven or more home runs.

On the mound, Georgia ranks second in the SEC and ninth in the country with a 3.17 ERA. The Bulldogs are holding opponents to a national best 6.14 hits per game and rank second in the country with a 1.13 WHIP.

SERIES HISTORY

Auburn leads the series that dates back to 1896, 178-166-4 and is 85-62-4 against the Bulldogs at home.

The Tigers have won three straight series against Georgia for the first time since 1998-2001.
