Tiger set to compete at SEC Outdoors

Fayetteville, Ark.—The Auburn track and field team will compete in the 2019 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday through Saturday at John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus.

Auburn sends 22 men and 19 women to the championship this year, including 21 that will be competing for the first time at the SEC Outdoor meet.

Junior Kylee Carter is Auburn's top ranked competitor headed into the meet. The Beauregard, Ala., native is first in the SEC and third nationally in the women's javelin throw with a toss of 57.45m/188-6. Teammates Tori McKinley is second in the conference and eighth in the country in the shot put while sophomore Joyce Kimeli, the SEC silver medalist indoors at 3000m and 5000m, is third in the SEC in the 3000m steeplechase.

Freshman indoor All-American Madi Malone is another Tiger vying for top marks in the SEC. The Wichita, Kan., native is the school record holder in the hammer throw and is third in the conference.

The Tiger men are led by depth in the field events, starting with sophomore Cade Antonucci in the men's javelin throw. The sophomore is currently fourth in the SEC and 10th nationally in the event with a toss of 72.37m/237-5. Decathlete Chris Stone is currently ranked fifth in the SEC, while true freshman Dontavious Hill is eighth in the high jump.

The meet begins at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday, 12 p.m. on Friday and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live results can be found at https://flashresults.com/.

The SEC Championships will be streamed live on SECN+ Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT and Friday at 6 p.m. The meet will air live on the SEC Network Saturday at 5 p.m. The broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Larra Overton, Jill Montgomery and John Anderson.

A total of 16 SEC men's and women's track and field teams are ranked among the nation's top-25 teams, according to the latest national rankings announced Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
