ATLANTA – Auburn men's golfer Brandon Mancheno took home the individual title at the 2019 Dogwood Invitational Friday afternoon. The rising junior shot 21-under (69-68-65-65--267) for the tournament at the par-72 Druid Hills Golf Club.
Mancheno was tied with Isaiah Jackson at 20-under heading into the final hole of the fourth round before notching a birdie on the par-5 18th hole, besting Jackson's par, who was in the clubhouse.
"Winning the Dogwood is pretty cool," Mancheno said. "You don't win a lot in golf, so it was a great way to start the summer."
The Jacksonville, Fla. native was one of only four golfers to score all four of his rounds in the 60s. He had only four bogeys across the 72-hole layout.
Mancheno's victory marks the first by an Auburn Tiger this summer with many more tournaments left to be played.
He joins an illustrious list of past winners including Webb Simpson, Hudson Swafford, Brian Harman, Ben Kohles and Lloyd Jefferson Go
Jacob Solomon and Wells Padgett also finished the four-day tournament in third and 23rd, respectively. Solomon was just four shots from Mancheno at 17-under (68-67-66-70--271), while Padgett capped the week at 8-under (71-67-71-71--280).
