AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn volleyball team received academic recognition for the 2018-19 school year as the squad earned another American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

The honor is the sixth in the last seven seasons for the program under head coach Rick Nold. A total of 14 student-athletes from the 2018-19 team earned academic recognition from the SEC, having nine on the SEC Honor Roll and five on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Auburn was one of 189 Division I schools and eight SEC programs to be rewarded with the annual honor. The AVCA initiated the yearly award for the 1992-93 academic year and it honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The Tigers welcome Georgia Tech for an exhibition, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. CT in Auburn Arena. The squad officially kicks off the 2019 season with the annual War Eagle Invitational, Aug. 30-31, hosting Tennessee State, New Mexico State and Butler.
