WEST POINT, Miss. – Megan Schofill won't arrive at Auburn until next week, but the incoming freshman put on a show this week at the U.S. Women's Amateur as she advanced to the Round of 16 in match play before bowing out Thursday.

"Megan had a great week," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. "She played marvelous golf and gained a lot of belief in herself and her abilities. She loves to compete, and I can't wait to see her in the Orange and Blue."

Schofill, the top-ranked player in the state of Florida coming out of high school, finished tied for third during stroke play with back-to-back rounds of 69 (-3) and 70 (-2). She made a total of nine birdies in the 36 holes played the first two days and earned the No. 4 seed for match play.

Schofill opened match play with a 2&1 victory over Malia Nam, a rising sophomore at USC, in Wednesday's Round of 64. On Thursday, in the Round of 32, she went 19 holes with Tyler Akabane before ultimately winning the match with a birdie on the 19th hole. Later that day, Schofill's run came to an end with a 4&3 loss to Albane Valenzuela.

It was yet another impressive performance for Schofill, who reached the semifinals of the Women's Southern Amateur earlier this summer and also won the stroke play portion of the Florida Women's Amateur before a loss in the Round of 16 of match play.

Rising sophomores Brooke Sansom and Chandler Rosholt also competed in the stroke-play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur this week but failed to make match play.
