FORT MYERS, Fla. – Auburn and FGCU battled to a scoreless first half before the game was suspended due to a lightning delay and ended as a 'no contest'.

It was the second lightning delay of the game after kickoff at the FGCU Soccer Complex was also pushed back for an hour and five minutes.

Auburn came out firing in the match as the Tigers had a trio of scoring chances in the early stages and ended the first 45 minutes with four shots from Bri Folds, Angeline Daly, Jessie Gerow and Sydney Richards.

FGCU got on the attack about midway through the first half, but goalkeeper Kate Hart stayed strong in the net as she turned in three saves on the Eagles six shots. Hart made a diving save as FGCU put its first shot on frame on a breakaway and held strong on a chance in the final minute of action.

Auburn continues its season at the Bulldog Classic in Athens, Georgia, next weekend. The Tigers take on Maryland on Friday, Aug. 30 before playing Virginia Tech on Sunday, Sept. 1.
