AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn junior Julie McCarthy earned Preseason All-American honors this week as she was selected Third Team by Golfweek on Wednesday.

McCarthy enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign last year after finishing with the sixth-lowest stroke average per round (72.90) in Auburn single-season history. She was named First Team All-SEC and also made Honorable Mention All-American per the WGCA.

The Ireland native had six top-five finishes during the regular season, including her first collegiate victory at the Clemson Invitational in April.

Over the summer, McCarthy represented Auburn in the Arnold Palmer Cup where she helped lead the International Team to victory. During that event, she earned an exemption to play in the Evian Championship where he made her debut on the LPGA Tour.

Golfweek also recognized Auburn's Megan Schofill this week as one of the "Top 10 Freshmen to Watch." Schofill, the No. 1 player in the state of Florida coming out of high school, arrived on campus earlier this month. She enjoyed a busy summer that was capped off by the U.S. Women's Amateur where she made it to the Round of 16 in match play.

The Tigers are ranked No. 13 in Golfweek's Preseason Top 25. They open the 2019-20 season on Sunday, Sept. 8 in the Cougar Classic, played at Yeamens Hall Club in Hanahan, South Carolina.
