AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn junior Kaleigh Telfer was one of 25 players named to the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List on Friday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding women's college golfer, as voted on by players, coaches and media.

Telfer and teammate Julie McCarthy were both on the Annika Award Watch List at one time or another last year. Telfer made the list in November following an outstanding fall campaign that included an individual win in the Battle at the Beach, and McCarthy was later added in April following a victory at the Clemson Invitational.

Of the 10 tournaments Telfer played in last year, she finished in the top 20 seven times. She recorded three top-10 finishes, including one at the SEC Championship, and she was second on the team with 13 rounds of par or better.

The South Africa native also played in the inaugural Augusta Women's National Amateur where she finished tied for 12th after shooting two rounds under par.  She was one of eight golfers to shoot under par in the final round, played at Augusta National Golf Club.

Telfer and her teammates will open the 2019-20 season in nine days as Auburn is scheduled to take part in the Cougar Classic at Yeamens Hall Club in Hanahan, South Carolina, beginning Sunday, Sept. 8.
