Marlon Davidson (No. 3) and Tyrone Truesdell combine for a sack against Kent State

AUBURN, Ala. – It might be easier to start calling it the "Marlon Davidson Award."

For the second straight week, the Auburn senior won the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week award.

Against Kent State, Davidson tallied 2.5 sacks and six tackles in the Tigers' 55-16 Homecoming victory.

Tyrone Truesdell's second quarter sack motivated Davidson.

"It sparked us," Davidson said. "'Trues' came to the sideline saying, 'I've got more sacks than all y'all.' I was like, 'Alright, we've got to go get ours, too. It was a pretty fun deal."

Two series later, Davidson and Truesdell combined for a sack at Kent State's 2-yard-line, nearly resulting in a safety.

For the season, Davidson has 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He has 12 career sacks and can tie his season high from 2017 and 2018 with one more.

Davidson also earned Auburn's defensive helmet sticker for the second straight week.

"Played another outstanding game," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said.

Now comes Southeastern Conference play with the Tigers opening on the road Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS at Texas A&M.

"I feel like we're in a good spot but I feel like we can amp it up some more," Davidson said. "I feel like we still haven't reached our true talent yet."

Auburn's season opening win against Oregon prepared the Tigers for Saturday's SEC showdown at Texas A&M, Davidson said.

"It helps us a lot," he said. "They were a great, explosive offense and we held them (to 21 points). We're fixing to come into SEC ball. It's different when you play SEC football. It's way different."
