AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 8 Auburn men's golf team is set to tee off the 2019-20 season at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Sept. 23-24. The annual event takes place at the Inverness Country Club, a par-71 course that spans 7,172 yards in Toledo, Ohio.
"We are excited to start the 2019-20 season at an outstanding venue," head coach Nick Clinard said. "The Inverness Club is one of the best courses in America and will be a great test for the team. We have been playing very well at home and the team is eager is to compete."
The Tigers are in a 15-team field that consists of No. 15 LSU, No. 18 Texas Tech, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Northern Illinois, Notre Dame, Ohio State, St. Mary's, Tennessee, Toledo and UNC Wilmington.
Auburn's lineup for the week features Graysen Huff, Andrew Kozan, Brandon Mancheno, Wells Padgett, Jovan Rebula and Alex Vogelsong.
In their only previous showing at the Inverness Intercollegiate, the Tigers won the event at 9-under (843), defeating second-place Duke at three strokes, behind three top-five finishers individually.
Inverness CC has hosted four U.S. Opens and two PGA Championships, and is the only club to have hosted the U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.
The prestigious course has hosted a plethora of current PGA Tour golfers in Rickie Fowler, Billy Horschel, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Hunter Mahan, among others.
Auburn is slated to play the first two rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CT. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning with a live broadcast on ESPN3, beginning at 11 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the tournament is available on Golfstat.com.
