TOLEDO, Ohio – The No. 8 Auburn men's golf team finished its first tournament of the 2019-20 season with a seventh-place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers capped the three-round competition at 25-over (877) at the par-71, 7,172-yard Inverness Club.
Auburn had three top-20 finishers in Alex Vogelsong, Andrew Kozan and Brandon Mancheno.
Vogelsong tied for 11th at 3-over (71-74-71--216) in his first action as a Tiger. In his even-par final round, the freshman carded 12 pars, good for second on the team, to go along with three birdies and three bogeys.
Kozan and Mancheno tied for 17th overall at 4-over. Kozan (68-72-77--217) had a pair of birdies with one on both the front and back nine, while Mancheno (74-72-71--217) had a pair of birdies and bogeys on the front nine to accompany a spotless back nine.
Jovan Rebula tied for 40th at 10-over (75-71-77--223), while Graysen Huff tied for 46th at 12-over (75-78-72--225).
Wells Padgett rounded out the Auburn contingent and tied for 54th at 14-over (76-76-75--227).
No. 18 Texas Tech won the team title at 4-over (856), followed by Tennessee (864) and Notre Dame (865).
The Tigers now shift their focus to the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, set for Oct. 7-8 at Old Overton Club.
