Women's tennis continues season at Rice Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women's tennis team will continue its fall season this weekend as four student-athletes travel to Houston for the Rice Invitational.

The tournament runs Friday-Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on the Rice campus.

Auburn's four players that will make the trip to Houston – junior Lindsay Song, sophomore Yu Chen and freshmen Carolyn Ansari and Caraline Scheufler – will be seeing their first action of the 2019-20 season.

The tournament will consist of two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles on Friday, one round of each on Saturday and one singles match on Sunday.

Ansari will play in Flight 1 of the singles draw; she will face Rice's Anastasia Smirnova in the first round. Chen is in Flight 2 where she will play Priya Niezgoda of Rice to open the tournament. Song is in Flight 7, facing Carolina Bulatovic of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Scheufler takes on North Texas' Kexuan Zhou in Flight 8.

In doubles, Ansari and Chen will take on the 11th-ranked team of Alter/Rice from Arkansas in Flight 1. And Song and Schuefler will play in Flight 3 of doubles, facing Clark/Tiron of South Florida.
