AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men's golf team is set to open the 2019-20 campaign inside the top 10 according to a trio of preseason polls.
The Tigers sit at No. 7 in the Golf Channel Preseason Countdown and No. 8 in both the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golfstat rankings.
"We are excited to start the 2019-20 season this September at Inverness," head coach Nick Clinard said. "It's flattering that all the polls have us ranked No. 7 or No. 8 in the preseason ranking. However, we have a lot of work to do to compete for a national championship.
"We will need to be resilient, tough and competitive to reach our ambitions this season. We have excellent depth and a team that seems extremely hungry to win championships."
Auburn is one of only six programs in the country to be in the top 10 in all three sets of rankings, including one of just two in the Southeastern Conference (Vanderbilt).
The Tigers return eight from last season's squad, headlined by All-Americans Brandon Mancheno and Jovan Rebula.
Auburn also signed a talented crop of four freshmen expected to compete early on.
The Tigers reached the NCAA Championship for the eighth consecutive season last year becoming one of only four programs in the country (Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas) to accomplish the feat.
Auburn opens the season Sept. 23-24 in Toledo, Ohio for the Inverness Intercollegiate.
