AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team and head coach Jeff Graba announced the 2020 schedule Wednesday.
"This schedule will release test us this year," Graba said. "I'm very excited for the level of competition we face and am looking forward to the challenge of quite possibly the toughest schedule in the country."
The Tigers will host five meets in Auburn Arena with four against Southeastern Conference foes. The team has enjoyed success at home on the Plains, finishing among the Top 8 in the country in attendance over the last six seasons and having nine sellouts (7,424).
"This slate of home meets is going to be fun for the team as well as the fans," Graba said. "I've been encouraging everyone to get their season tickets early so they can reserve a great seat for some of the best gymnastics events in the country this year."
The first event of the year is the annual Preview Meet. The free event will be held in Auburn Arena and will be the first weekend of December. The date for the meet will be announced in November.
Auburn opens 2020 with a big test on the road, competing at the Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim, Calif., Jan. 3. The Tigers will go against 2019 national champion Oklahoma, 2018 national champion UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Denver, Arizona State and Penn State.
The team kicks off its home slate against rival Alabama, Jan. 10, before heading to SEC tournament champion LSU, Jan. 17. Auburn returns to the Plains for a contest vs. Missouri, Jan. 24, and closes out the busy month on the road, taking on Georgia in Athens (Jan. 31).
February has Auburn at home three of the four possible weekends, starting with back-to-back meets in Auburn Arena. The Tigers host Kentucky (Feb. 7) and SEC regular season champion Florida (Feb. 14) before traveling to Arkansas, Feb. 21. The squad caps the month at home, welcoming Texas Woman's to the Plains, Feb. 28. The meet will serve as the team's Senior Night.
Auburn heads to the east coast, traveling to New Hampshire for a road meet, March 6. The regular season finale will be the team's annual Elevate the Stage meet vs. Alabama. The March 13 contest will once again be held in Birmingham.
Postseason action begins with the 2020 SEC Championship, taking place in Duluth, Ga., March 21. The NCAA Regional Championship will be a two-day meet and will be held at one of six locations, April 3-4. The NCAA National Championship will once again be held in Fort Worth, Texas, and will run April 17-18.
