AUBURN, Ala. – Junior defender Sarah Houchin was named Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention following her performance at the Bulldog Classic last weekend.
It marks the first time in her career Houchin has been recognized with the weekly honor.
The Coppell, Texas, native not only scored her first career collegiate goal in a two-goal effort versus Maryland, but also helped lead the Tigers to the first shutout of the season against the Terrapins.
Her goal off a corner kick in the 27th minute was the first of her career, and she also converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute to record a brace in the contest. Two days later, Houchin turned around to play all 90 minutes against Virginia Tech and totaled 176 of a possible 180 minutes throughout the weekend.
Houchin and the Tigers host a pair of matches this weekend, beginning with the home opener vs. Syracuse Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The Tigers also host Troy Sunday at 6 p.m. to conclude the weekend.
